Description of holiday apartment in Amsterdam, North Holland

Colonial styled penthouse with 50 m2 roofterrace and 360 degree view. Ideally located with fast access to the Jordaan area, Amsterdam Central Station, city centre and all the main tourist attractions by 5 minutes bus ride (bus stops every 10 minutes in front of the house) or 15 minutes walk.

On walking distance from jordaan area and cultural centre Westergasfabriek, in a lively street with shops, restaurants and bars. There is a supermarket just 15 meters away. The double apartment is on the thirth and fourth floor and is reached via the traditional steep Amsterdam staircase. There is no lift present making the apartment unsuitable for elderly, infirm or disabled people.

The entire apartment has recently been completely renovated. Massive wooden floor, fully equipped kitchen with bar, barstools, big gas cooker with oven, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, kettle, coffee machine, microwave/grill. The bathroom is fitted with a bath, shower, bidet, toilet, washbasin and a heated towel rail.
Kitchen, seperate toilet and living on the thirth floor, bedrooms, laundry room and bathroom on the floor above.

A 50 m2 roofgarden with 360 degree view. Towels and bed linen are provided. The apartment is further equipped with wash/dry/iron facilities, television, cd and dvd player.

This apartment sleeps 4 people. There is an adjustable two persons bed in the master bedroom and 2 matrasses in the study. When you are with 6 or 7 people more sleeps are available in the apartment below (see id 00724).

Internet access is temporarely out of order but there is a Bagels and Beans with free wifi almost next door and a cybercafé just around the corner.

Location description

The Westerpark area: this late 19th century neighbourhood is located within walking distance of Amsterdam Central Station. The unique urban park in the grounds of the former Westergasfabriek is a real 'place to be' for cultural activities. International art, design and fashion shows are regularly hosted in the monumental buildings of the old factory. It's also a good place to go for excellent food, a relaxed drink, dancing or to watch a film at their cinema. 
There is a lot to discover in the Westerpark area for lovers of architecture too, like the old Westergasfabriek, the Museum 'het Schip' (Amsterdam School of Architecture) and the Silodam. 
There are plenty of lively bars and restaurants in the area, as well as several theatres and cinemas. 
Relaxation: at city beach 'Strand West' you can lie in the sand and enjoy the sun. Also, exclusively for ladies only, there is the Moroccan bath house 'badhuis de Hammam' in the Zaanstraat.
The main tourist attractions in the city centre are reached by a 7minute bus ride.

Directions

Public transport: The number 22 bus (in the direction of Spaarndammerbuurt) stops in front of the apartment (stop NOVA ZEMBLA) and the number 48 bus (in the direction of Sloterdijk station) stops around the corner from the apartment (stop Spaarndammerstraat). From Schiphol Airport you can travel by train to Amsterdam CS or Amsterdam Sloterdijk. There are easy bus links from both stations to the apartment.
By car: Amsterdam is easily accessible by car. You can park at the Westersluis Haarlemmerweg car park (a short walk from the apartment) or at the Sloterdijk Park and Ride car park. A very short ride on the number 48 bus (in the direction of Amsterdam CS) will take you from the Sloterdijk Park and Ride to the apartment.
Taxi: A taxi from Amsterdam Central Station costs around 10 euros and a taxi from Schiphol Airport costs around 40 euros.
Walking: Westerpark is about a 15 minute walk from Amsterdam Central Station along the popular shopping street Haarlemmerdijk.
